Golf at Jubilee Keeps Getting Better & Better
(L-R) Cheryl Hicks, Mid Parmley, Dolly Gregory,
Donna Gilfillan
A good thing is about to get better!
Dolly Gregory and Cheryl Hicks are both part of a foursome that began taking
lessons this past September. A lifelong athlete, Cheryl decided to take up golf
because there wasn’t a softball team at Jubilee and Dolly wanted to enter the
annual Jubilee Golf Tournament, a fun competitive tour her husband, Leon, began.
The tournament takes Jubilee golfers to different courses throughout the region.
While the weather this past winter hasn’t been as inviting as Dolly and Cheryl may
have liked, they look forward to “fairer weather.”
Mid Parmley and Donna Gilfillan also count themselves as “fair weather” golfers.
While Mid took up the game again, having played years ago, Donna tried once
after getting married and decided to hang up her clubs after one try. Now both are
looking forward to playing a round or two with their husbands in the Jack and Jill
league at Jubilee, thanks to lessons from The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie pro, Kevin,
whom they both separately described as “very patient.”
The Links Golf Course
Golf is a centerpiece of life at Jubilee, even for non-golfers. Many homes enjoy
fairway views and all enjoy the peace and beauty a well cared for course brings to the
community. The Links at Jubilee and The Woodlands next door provide 36 holes of daily
fee championship golf and both are Scott
Oki managed golf courses, making them
attractive to golfers at all skill levels.
All of the women credit the social
atmosphere at Jubilee as being the key
reason they decided to take up the game.
Says Mid, “I love a walk in the park.” And
none of the women plan on taking the
game too seriously. Dolly’s goal, she says
wryly, is to simply get the ball in the air
and “stop playing croquet.”
