defy national trend
Master-planned community grows with 261 home sales for active adults, families
LACEY, Wash. – National real estate headlines don’t seem to apply in Thurston County, where Jenamar Communities sold 261 quality new homes last year.
And already this year Jubilee at Hawks Prairie has sold 11 of its single-story home designs for active adults ages 55 or better. Next door at Edgewater, fewer than 20 sites for traditional two-story homes are still available.
“It’s the healthy lifestyle the Hawks Prairie community offers that brings so many buyers,” said Christine Bachman, Jenamar vice president of marketing. “Three parks, a private nature trail to the beach, walking paths and many activities are the heartbeat of this community.”
Bachman added that home buyers also are discovering that easy access to Interstate 5 and plenty of nearby shopping and services make Jubilee and Edgewater a great place to live.
Jubilee sold 161 homes in 2006 – that’s 16 more homes than the year before. To date Jubilee has sold 510 homes, nearly halfway to the 1,170 homes anticipated at its completion in 2010.
Edgewater sold 101 homes last year. Jenamar has just a few home sites remaining in that part of its master-planned community. Other builders are adding homes that will put Edgewater at more than 500 residences when it is completed in a few years.
In 2006 about 7,000 people came to check out Jubilee’s flexible floor plans, recreational amenities, 5-minute freeway access and beautiful, natural surroundings. Hundreds more visited during the Washington State Senior Games, the Olympia Rose Show and other community events hosted by Jubilee.
Nine furnished models are now open to Jubilee visitors since the popular “Bellevue” home was added last year. Also opening in 2006 was a 2.3-mile private, paved trail to the Puget Sound beach.
This year Jubilee plans to open an outdoor recreation site that includes tennis courts and expand the Jubilee Lodge recreation and community center by 7,000 square feet.
Using Jubilee at Hawks Prairie as a model, Jenamar recently started selling homes for a new Jubilee in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
