Jubilee plans weekend in full bloom as host of two free events June 21
Get a glimpse of Jubilee’s backyard retreats and talk to expert rose growers
LACEY, Wash. – The public is invited to Jubilee on Sat., June 21, for two free events: The Jubilee Garden Tour and the Olympia Rose Show.
The second annual Jubilee Garden Tour lets visitors explore some of the most beautiful private backyards at Jubilee, a master-planned community for active adults age 55 or better. Gardens will be open from noon to 5 p.m., with maps available in the Jubilee Lodge.
The 54th annual Olympia Rose Show, noon to 5 p.m. in the Jubilee Lodge, is open to avid gardeners or anyone wishing to take in some breathtaking blooms. Judges will evaluate single roses and arrangements in about 50 different classes, with experts on site to answer questions.
While Jubilee’s community association takes care of front yard landscape maintenance for homeowners, some residents have turned their backyards into lush, inviting retreats. With easy care plantings and use of pavers, stone and concrete, some backyards are surprisingly as low-maintenance as they are beautiful.
“Some of the water features here are truly extraordinary,” says Christine Bachman, vice president of marketing for Jenamar Communities.
The rose show is organized by the Olympia Rose Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of and education about roses. It is a local chapter of The American Rose Society, of which most members are home gardeners.
The Jubilee Lodge is located at 8487 Bainbridge Loop NE, in Lacey. Visitors are welcome to tour the community – including nine furnished model homes – Mon. through Sat. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sun. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.jubileeliving.com for more information or call (360) 491-5900.
