Just Another Day at the Beach
'Every day is Saturday' at Jubilee at Hawks Prairie
Nature is your neighbor at Jubilee, a community
for active adults age 55 or better, where a private
trail takes you through trees to a gorgeous Puget
Sound beach.
The nearly one-mile stretch of beachfront is
exclusive to residents of the Hawks Prairie Master
Planned Community, which includes Jubilee and
its neighbor, Edgewater.
Jubilee Beach offers a panoramic view of the
Olympic Mountains to the west and Mount Rainier
to the east. Anderson Island is directly across from
Jubilee Beach. Low tide opens a nice area for
walking that stretches about a mile along the
waterfront.
To reach the beach, residents follow the Hawks
Prairie Trail, a mostly fl at 2.3-mile paved trail that’s
quickly become one of the most popular amenities
at Jubilee.
Walking through the mix of evergreen and
deciduous trees, you’re treated to a palette of
colors, from the vibrant hues of fall to the tender
green signs of spring.
You might even see a
deer in the bushes not
far off the trail.
Many residents claim
they are living healthier
because they routinely
walk the trail for
exercise and social
interaction, according
to Christine Bachman,
vice president of marketing
for Jubilee. “Our
residents absolutely
love the trail and Jubilee
Beach,” Bachman
says. “They tell me that
living here is a dream come true.”
More space for grown-ups to play
Social events, special interest clubs and two
nearby championship golf courses are just a few
samples of the activities at Jubilee.
Pavilion Park, completed in June, offers residents
a covered pavilion with picnic tables, restroom
facilities and parking. This park, which borders
the Hawks Prairie Trail, also includes two tennis
courts.
Jubilee Lodge is the heart of the action at Jubilee,
with a fitness center, game room, ballroom, indoor
swimming pool and hot tub. Here, residents enjoy
everything from ballroom dancing and bocce to
water aerobics and wine tasting. The building
plays host to monthly special events such as luaus,
birthday potlucks and holiday celebrations.
The Lodge is currently being expanded by 7,000
square feet. When complete, the 25,000-squarefoot
Lodge will boast a larger exercise room, an
expanded multipurpose ballroom and a new
special events center. Storage, offi ces, locker
rooms and the library will benefit from more elbow
room, too.
Homes offer flexibility and a
low-maintenance lifestyle
Jubilee’s 13 open-style fl oor plans range from
approximately 1,200 square feet to 2,500 square
feet and all are single-level with maintained front
lawns. Designs are fl exible enough to accommodate
a craft or hobby room, formal dining room or golfcart
garage. Prices range from the high $200,000s
to $500,000+.
The 500-acre community of Craftsman-style,
single-story homes opened in spring 2003 and is
now home to more than 1,000 residents. At its
completion in 2010, Jubilee will have about 1,100
single-family homes and approximately 1,900
residents.
‘A gem of the Northwest’
Come and see why Where to Retire magazine
twice selected Jubilee as one of America’s 100
Best Master-Planned Communities. Calling it “a
gem of the Pacific Northwest,” the magazine
praises Jubilee’s mountain views, green space
and lively social scene of parties, dances, movies
and concerts.
You’re welcome to tour the community – including
nine furnished model homes – Mon. through Sat.
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun. from 11 a.m. to
